Is Now a Good Time to Buy a Cadillac?

Cadillac was founded in 1902, with the first Cadillac debuting at the New York Auto Show just a year later. Fast forward more than a century, and the brand continues to stand out for its luxury-oriented range of vehicles in 2020. If you're in the market for a new luxury car, Cadillac has a lot to offer, from sedans to large SUVs. However, if you're looking for a good deal, timing it just right could help you score your dream car at a non-premium price.

According to Kelly Blue Book, planning your purchase around year-end closeout sales at the end of each year could get you a better deal on an outgoing model year. Also related to outgoing models, current year model prices tend to drop when the next year's models start to appear in the showroom. If you don't want to wait until the end of the year, you might be able to snag a better deal toward the end of the month when a new release appears, especially if the dealership hasn't yet reached its sales target. In terms of paying for it, certain holidays, such as Labor Day, Memorial Day and Independence Day, often feature generous promotional and financing deals.

Sedans

The 2020 CT4 is an entry-level sedan with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine and standard rear-wheel drive (all-wheel drive also available). Even the appropriately named CT4 Luxury base model comes well-equipped with standard features, such as an 8-inch, full-color HD touchscreen display along with LED lamps and interior lighting. If you're looking for a sportier ride, the top-level CT4-V has a 2.7-liter high-output turbocharged engine, a 10-speed automatic transmission and performance-oriented traction management.

You can find even bolder styling with the CT5, which is a step up from the CT4. The base CT5 Luxury model comes with a high-tech 2.0-turbo engine and a 10-inch full-color HD touch display, along with safety features such as forward collision alert and automatic braking in the event of an emergency. The highest trim CT5-V model has a 3.0TT high-output V6 engine along with an electronic limited-slip differential for maximum performance.

Upgrade to the CT6 if you're looking for even more power. The base CT6 Luxury model comes standard with a 3.6-liter V6 engine with all-wheel-drive, while the top level Platinum has a 4.2-liter turbo V8 engine with 500-horsepower output. The limited CT6-V features a hand-built and signed Blackwing Twin Turbo V8 engine, which delivers 550 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque, along with high-performance Brembo brakes.

Crossovers

If you're looking for Cadillac's entry-level crossover, the 2020 XT4 is it. Despite its compact size, this small SUV has 39.5 inches of rear legroom and is available in three trim levels. The XT4 comes standard with front-wheel drive with optional all-wheel drive also available. The 2.0-liter turbocharged engine delivers up to 30 miles per gallon of fuel efficiency on the highway.

Step up to the XT5 if you're seeking even more power and performance. This Cadillac comfortably seats up to five passengers and features 63 cubic feet of cargo space. The base model has a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder turbo engine, while the premium Sport edition comes with a 3.6-liter V6 engine and a Sport Control all-wheel drive system.

With seating for seven and maximum cargo space of just under 80 cubic feet behind the first row, the 2020 XT6 is a practical choice for families. This crossover SUV also earned a 2020 IIHS Top Safety Pick+ designation. The base Premium Luxury model has exotic wood accents on the inside along with unique and exotic interior and exterior styling. The highest available Sport model features Sport Control all-wheel drive as well as carbon fiber accents and 20-inch, 12-spoke alloy wheels.

SUVs

The Escalade is perhaps the auto maker's best-known SUV — and for good reason. There's plenty of room for up to eight passengers, and the 6.2-liter V8 engine provides plenty of power for daily as well as not-so-routine drives. The base Escalade Standard model comes with a 16-speaker Bose system, automatic parking, park assist and an available 60/40 split folding second row bench.

The first and second row seats are covered in premium leather, while the front seats are heated and cooled. A hands-free liftgate makes loading and unloading cargo that much easier. Upgrading to the highest Premium Luxury trim gets you illuminated door handles, a rear seat entertainment system, front LED cornering lamps and more.

While the 2020 Escalade is a dreamy and luxurious ride, Cadillac plans to overhaul the distinguished SUV for 2021, with the latest model set to arrive in showrooms in late 2020. Highlights for the 2021 Escalade include an OLED screen with a sweeping 38-inch diagonal display, along with available Super Cruise technology for hands-free driving assistance.
